The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) has lowered the (maximum) age limit for Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189) from 50 years to 45 years.

Applicants for the subclass 189 visa must be 45 years or under to be eligible to apply for this visa from 1 July 2017.

The subclass 189 visa is designed to accommodate skilled individuals who want to permanently stay in Australia. This visa subclass does not require sponsorship from an employer, from state or territory or from family in Australia.
